The wellness industry is a lucrative business, currently worth around $55.8 billion dollars. But I think it’s safe to say a lot of people now have cottoned on to which companies and products are genuine and which are out there just to make money, with little evidence to show that their products or programs actually improve our wellness at all.
I love everything to do with wellness; I practice Yoga daily, I love going to retreats, I take myself on spa breaks, I adore skincare and I’m always an advocate for mental health. That’s just to name a few aspects of wellness that I’m passionate about.
And I have spent a lot of money on my own wellness in the past. Of course everything from purchasing skincare to going to a Yoga class can come under that umbrella.
But I feel like now I have a good balance of what is actually worth my money – and what isn’t.
Because there are many things out there which absolutely are not worth your money when it comes to wellness. And, let’s face it, financial stress is another aspect of wellness itself. You don’t want to be spending money on the thing that’s supposed to help you manage your stress, only for it to make you feel worse.
However on the flip side, your health is the most important thing. So if something does help any aspect of your wellness, then I believe you should absolutely go for it.
But, when thecost of living is rising and we do need to watch our purses a little more closely, we always have to make some sacrifice somewhere. Whether that’s not booking that massage or skipping a Yoga class for a week.
So in this post, we’re going to look at some small but effective ways you can save money on your health and wellness – hopefully without impacting your actual wellness at the same time!
How To Save Money On Your Health and Wellness:
Stop smoking
If you smoke cigarettes, then you’re probably spending more than what you want to be. By quitting smoking, you could be hugely benefitting both your bank balance and your health. You can calculate how much you could save if you quite smoking by using this Stop Smoking Calculator, which is a great idea to help you see that figure in black and white.
Cut out the subscriptions
There are lots of subscriptions out there from skincare based subscriptions to fitness subscriptions and more and when we’re trying to save money, looking at these sort of things we’re paying for is a good place to start. How often are you using that subscription? Can what you’re getting from that subscription be provided elsewhere for free?
Do at-home workouts
Because when it comes to subscription based fitness programs, I don’t always think they’re necessary. YouTube has SO MANY amazing fitness creators on who provide lengthy, in-depth and well researched exercises videos for free! Similarly, this is a great option if you want to cancel your gym membership.
Lower weight doesn’t equal healthier weight but if weight loss is something that you know will help you feel healthier in your body, you might want to consider this Weight Loss Goal Calculator, which can give you an indication of how many calories you need to lose, maintain or gain weight.
To enhance your at-home workout routine, consider incorporating Fitspresso into your regimen. This weight loss supplement is designed to support your fitness and weight loss goals by boosting metabolism and energy levels, making your workouts more effective.
Practice Yoga at home
Similarly with Yoga, I feel like a lot of people think they can only really practice it properly if they attend a class but that’s simply not the case. Again, there are many incredible Yoga teachers on YouTube, my favourite being Yoga With Adriene, which you’ll already know if you’ve been around here long enough!
Use what you have
When workouts call for weights or straps or other equipment, it can help to get creative. Use tins in your cupboard or shampoo bottles in replace of weights if you don’t have them or can’t afford them. Use towels instead of bands and if you need props to help you, use pillows, books or towels.
Cut down on your alcohol consumption
Not only is drinking too much alcohol bad for you health, it’s also bad for your wallet. Cutting back your alcohol consumption can help you save a lot of money – because alcohol isn’t cheap and also help you feel more alert, awake and healthier on a daily basis.
Use nature
Using nature is beneficial for both your physical and your mental health and you know what else? It’s completely FREE. Get outside and go for a walk or a run, use free to use tennis courts or basket ball courts, bring your Yoga mat outside or even take up gardening.
Meal prepping
Meal prepping can save you time, energy and money, so this is definitely something to consider doing. Planning your meals for the week and being meticulous about the ingredients you buy and the amount you buy so you don’t over spend and also don’t end up with lots of food waste.
Use the library
The library is an excellent resource for you to use completely free of charge and if you want to expand your health and wellness knowledge, there are plenty of amazing books out there that can help you do that. Head to the library first to see what they have before you spend money on new books.
Take advantage of workplace benefits
Many workplaces these days include well-being incentives in their contracts for employees, anything from gym memberships to discounts in wellness stores and more. If you’re employed, then definitely make use of these perks. They are there for a reason; workplaces want the happiest and healthiest employees whilst you want to feel your best on a budget too!
