How To Make Yourself Feel Good Every Day in 10 Easy Ways

Self-care is crucial in all our lives. It still staggers me that we sometimes have to be REMINDED to take care of ourselves. But as the world has moved on, it’s become more and more normalized to put our self-care first. There are such small things we can do every day to benefit our physical and mental well-being and, in this post, I’m sharing how to make yourself feel good every day in 10 easy ways!

My relationship with self-care comes in waves and it’s certainly not always been as healthy as I wish. For example, I tend to be able to focus more on self-care when I’m in a good place mentally. Which isn’t necessarily the time when you need to focus on self-care.

But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve established much healthier self-care routines for myself and I’m pretty good at figuring out what I need at any given time now. Of course, there are ALWAYS those times where I struggle and feel a bit lost and out at sea!

Self-care covers a huge range of angles, just some of the posts I’ve written recently include:

  • How To Use the Seasons For Your Self-Care
  • How To Make Self-Care Uncomplicated
  • How The Internet Can Aid Your Self-Care

And more. But sometimes, it’s the littest things that you can do daily that can make the biggest impact, especially if they’re done repetitively and incorporated into a routine.

How to make yourself feel good every day in 10 easy steps:

Writing down something you’re grateful for every single day

Keeping a gratitude journal of some kind is a SUPER easy way for how to make yourself feel good every day. Gratitude practices get a lot of hype and whilst it’s important to remember that they’re not going to magically fix your problems, then can have a positive impact on your mental health by encouraging you to think of the positives in your life daily!

Drink enough water

I can physically tell when I haven’t drunk enough water throughout the day. It can make you feel sluggish, give you a headache and more. It’s such a simple and effective thing to help you feel that bit better every day and drinking water is just so good for you! If plain water isn’t your thing, you might want to try an infusion bottle to add fresh fruit to your water.

Stretch

If you don’t have time for a full workout or a full Yoga practice and, let’s be honest, a lot of people genuinely don’t these days, then at least take just 2 or 3 minutes in the morning to stretch out your body. Some simple neck circles, shoulder rolls and leg stretches will just help loosen you up before you start your day!

Yoga

However, if you DO have time within your day for a full Yoga practice, I would highly recommend trying to fit one in as they really will help you feel better both mentally and physically throughout your day. I always start to feel a bit stuck and stagnant when I’ve gone a few days without practicing Yoga!

It doesn’t even have to be a difficult – or long – Yoga practice. You can try searching for shorter and more restorative Yoga practices on the Yoga With Adriene Find What Feels Good Membership, which I use daily and absolutely adore!

Take care of your skin

Your skin is the biggest organ on your body – so take the time to look after it! I know it can be SO tempting to just splash your face and jump straight into bed after a long and busy day but it really will pay to take a little extra time to focus on your skincare routine and be consistent with it!

In addition to your daily routine, you could even book yourself in for a professional treatment every so often and give yourself something to look forward to. It’s super simple to find a facial near me in Peoria, AZ, or wherever it is you are, thanks to the powers of the internet, and you’ll be doing something that is good for both your body and your soul, so it’s a real winner.

Eat breakfast

I know this point might not apply to everyone. My partner never eats breakfast and can often go the whole day without eating until he gets home from work and has dinner. I don’t know HOW he does it but if you’re like me and can’t function without breakfast, then make sure you’re eating a yummy and nutritious breakfast every morning to get your day off to the best start!

Put down your phone down

This is something I’ve really been trying to incorporate more recently and that’s switching off from social media for a few hours every day. Twitter will be there when you get back. Social media can have such a huge impact on our mental health, so it’s important to remember that your life ISN’T the one you portray online.

Read

As an avid book worm, books make me VERY happy and I always make a point to read at least a chapter every day of the book I’m reading. Perhaps you might want to try some non-fiction books or personal development books to get you into reading if you’re not currently a big reader!

Tidy up

A clear space means a clear head. One of the first things I do every morning is tidy my room (because I work from home). But if you work in an office, tidying your desk could have the same effect. Take pride of your space!

Do something you enjoy

Making a point of doing something you love every single day is important because it reinforces the fact to you that YOU matter, and your hobbies and interests should take up your time and space.
